Named one of Playback’s 10 to Watch, SAMANTHA MAC ADAM is a Guyanese-Canadian television and film director and an award-winning screenwriter.
Sam’s directorial debut into film was Prom Night, a comedic short that premiered at Just for Laughs and beat out 650 films to land a top 5 spot in Kevin Hart’s LOL EAT MY SHORTSShowcase. MacAdam was the only Canadian and female director finalist.
Recent directing projects include Shelved, a new single-camera comedy from showrunner Anthony Farrell (THE OFFICE) and Producer Colin Brunton (SCHITT’S CREEK), as well as a MOW rom-com, Fashionably In Love and a thriller/horror film, based on true crimes and set in the 90s.
Sam is currently in pre-production on a darkly comedic, coming-of-age indie film.
Other credits include directing on two CBC GEM comedic series, including one pilot and directing and co-writing a set of commercials with MARVEL’S Simu Liu.
An alumnus of the Women in the Director’s Chair: Story & Leadership program, her work has won acceptance to many showcases and initiatives, including the Toronto International Film Festival’s Big Pitch Event, CaribbeanTales Film Festival, the Whistler Film Festival and the Warner Bros Discovery Director’s Initiative.
