Rachel Bower
Maritimes (Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick)
Rachel Bower’s documentaries offer a powerful lens into the human experience. Her films span the globe, from Ukraine and Romania to Israel and North America, uncovering personal stories that reflect resilience and vulnerability.
Rachel’s storytelling captures a wide emotional spectrum: from 90-year-olds who have swum in the same river for decades, to the innocence of a trans girl on the cusp of puberty; from a Holocaust survivor revisiting the places of her childhood before her family was taken, to the story of systemic bias in crossword puzzles.
Her independently produced documentaries have been broadcast and screened at film festivals around the world. In the Same Boat and The Singing Lumberjack won best documentary at the Silver Wave Film Festival. Meet Maurice Crosby won best musical score at the British Documentary Film Festival. I am Skylar won 6 best short documentary awards at various film festivals.
