Laura Adkin

Laura Adkin is a Canadian Filmmaker from Vancouver. She began her career in Film & TV more than 20 years ago as an actor and eventually moved behind the camera as a producer, writer and director. Laura’s first short The Goodnight Kiss received the prestigious Bravofact grant and went on to play festivals around the world. It received many awards and accolades including Best Short Film at the Edmonton International Film Festival and 8 Leo Awards nominations. She was handpicked for a female directors initiative through Disney, she has pitched for the MPPIA short film award, she was chosen for Telus Storyhive’s Career Accelerator and for WIDC’s Career Advancement Module. After producing, writing and directing short films and digital series Laura’s first feature Re: Uniting was developed through Women in the Directors Chair Story & Leadership program and received funding from Telefilm Canada. It will be released theatrically in 2024 after a successful festival run. When Laura isn’t on set, she works as the Director of Performing Arts at Vancouver Acting School and loves to travel. She can often be found at home with her husband and elderly cat who she loves more than anything in the world.
