Elizabeta Lazebnik (she/they) is an award-winning Toronto based non binary autistic filmmaker. She has been making films ever since she immigrated to Canada 20 years ago and her films have screened worldwide, including 3 screenings at TIFF. Recently, her feature "Be Still" premiered at VIFF, and was picked up for distribution by Game Theory Films. The film won Best Canadian Feature Film at the Female Eye Film Festival and is currently nominated for 6 Leo Awards including Best Motion Picture. As a director, they are interested in psychological thrillers, mysteries, stories about female and non-binary people , as well as stories about the many unique ways in which people may perceive the world around them. They are known for using techniques that convey strong visual statements, especially using surrealism and boundary pushing ideas.
