Steven McMichael was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. At the age of 19 he joined the US Marine Corps and graduated Platoon Honorman - yes, he was a Hollywood Marine. Steven also served in Operation Desert Storm (1991) and reached the rank of Sergeant. Now a landed immigrant of Canada, Steven calls Cochrane, Alberta home. Since 1995, Steven has worked internationally as a stunt performer, fight choreographer, stunt coordinator and second unit director on some of the biggest films in Hollywood. With the culmination of 25 + years of experience Steven is transitioning into main unit directing by utilizing his extensive knowledge of film making. He's commonly tasked with shooting a previz that is utilized shot for shot in the final cut of productions he's worked on. Steve's first time directing main unit (action director) was on the feature film, Abducted shot in Alberta in 2020. An interesting fact: Abducted was the first film to be shot in Alberta with Covid protocols. Directing Mentors: Francis Lawrence / Anders Engström.
