I'm a documentary filmmaker based in Nova Scotia. My projects have screened and won awards at top festivals around the world.
My first feature documentary Drag Kids (2019) follows four brave young drag queens on a journey to acceptance and acclaim in their first group performance at Montreal Pride. Drag Kids premiered at Hot Docs, and went on to win awards and screen at Rotterdam, BFI Flair, RIDM, Bergen, Inside Out and many more.
My second film, The Killing of Phillip Boudreau (2020) made for CBC POV, explores the context around Nova Scotia’s infamous ‘Murder for Lobster.’ It won the Screen Nova Scotia Award for Best Documentary in 2021, and I won WIFT-AT’s Award for Best Director in the same year.
My second feature documentary, Unsyncable (2023), had its world premiere at Hot Docs and international premiere at DOC NYC. It follows six senior synchronized swimmers as they fight the forces of aging and prepare for the US Masters Championships.
I learned how to animate during the pandemic, and my short Bloody Mess - a darkly funny personal doc about my experience with fibroids - had its international premiere at DOC NYC in 2024 and has gone on to screen at Annecy, HollyShorts and Tampere, among many others.
My latest project chronicles the incredible recovery story of Whooping Cranes from the brink of extinction. Dances With Cranes was produced for CBC’s The Nature of Things and premiered on CBC in March, 2025.
I am currently developing a feature documentary about a 'Lazarus species' of seabird in Bermuda, that was thought to be extinct for over 300 years. I am also in development with CBC for another episode of The Nature of Things, about a long-misunderstood protagonist: the uterus.
