Screenwriter and director, Louise Archambault’s first feature, Familia, gained international sales and awards (TIFF, Canadian Screen Awards). Her second feature, Gabrielle, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival (Audience Award). It was selected to represent Canada at the Oscars and the Golden Globes in 2014, won numerous international prizes, and sold in over 25 territories. Following this, Louise was named Personality of the Year by La Presse/Ici Radio-Canada, arts and entertainment. Afterwards, she directed the TV series La Galère, Nouvelle Adresse, This Life, Trop and Catastrophe, the latter of which won the Best Scripted Format Award at Cannes. In 2019, Louise released two feature films, Il pleuvait des oiseaux (And the Birds Rained Down), which won international awards, and Merci pour tout (Thanks for everything), a comedy released at Christmas 2019. These films ranked 2nd and 3rd position in Canada’s box office. In 2023-2024, she directed the TV series À Coeur Battant with Roy Dupuis, and launched her recent feature Le temps d’un été (One Summer), which ranked top 1 Canadian film at the box office, the best Canadian BO since 2019, across all languages. For these successes and the « humanity of her projects », she was named Personality of the Year 2023 in L’Actualité. Her latest film, Irena’s Vow (2024), a WW2 biopic shot in Poland, premiered at TIFF, won audience awards in festivals. In 2025, Louise received the founding from Telefilm Canada for her next feature film, Cohen.
