Erica Meus-Saunders

Erica Meus-Saunders is an Afro-Caribbean woman who immigrated to Canada from the Bahamas. A graduate of the NSCC’s Screen Arts Program (Honours) in 2017, Erica works as a writer, director and producer in Atlantic Canada.

In 2024, she co-produced Good Grief Season 2, which secured nominations for the Screen Nova Scotia Awards (ensemble, acting for Martha Irving & Mary-Colin Chisholm) and the prestigious C21 International Drama Awards for Best Newform Drama.

Her latest short films include Eua-lander (scripted) which she wrote and directed (2022), and Music Resistance (2022) a short documentary – which she co-wrote, directed and produced. Both shorts played at several festivals across Canada, with Music Resistance nominated for Best Short Film at the Screen Nova Scotia Awards in 2023. They are both airing on CBC Gem - Reel East Coast #8.2 & #9.2. She’s currently in development of a limited TV series – Daughter of Eual, inspired by her short film – Eua-Lander.

Erica, 1 of 9 women selected to participate in the inaugural   NSI -Business for Producers is an active part of the Halifax community having served on several boards – Board of Directors of AFCOOP - 3 years. She has served on the WIFT-AT Board of Directors, 2 - years, DOC Atlantic, 1 - year, the Canadian Independent Screen Fund for BPOC creators (CISF) - 2 years. Outside of film, Erica works as the Executive Director of the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative and is CEO of Story-Book Entertainment Inc.  a production company and online platform.
