Yael Staav’s career kicked off in 2007 with a Cannes Lion Grand-Prix for Dove “Evolution”. In the ensuing years, she has honed her craft to prove to herself worthy of the early accolades.
 
She recently wrapped on a few episodes of North of North Season 2.   Her episodes of the Irish-Canadian co-production of Sisters (S2), starring Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley (where she directed all six episodes and served as co-executive producer) have just come out on Crave. 
 
Known for her sharp eye and comedic instincts, Yael previously directed multiple episodes of Workin’ Moms (CBC), earning a 2023 Canadian Screen Award nomination and a 2022 DGC nomination for her work on the show's final season. Before that, she received both a DGC Award and a Canadian Screen Award for her work on Baroness Von Sketch (CBC/IFC).
In 2024, her episode “Bed Bugs” from CBC’s One More Time earned her another DGC nomination.
 
Yael’s commercial work for Amazon, Coke, Campbell’s, Volkswagen, and Delta – with agencies including World Famous, DDB, Leo Burnett, Wieden + Kennedy, and Saatchi & Saatchi – taps into small, incidental moments that reveal who we are at our core. Much of her work is about self-discovery, examining incidental details that often go unnoticed in a world that’s all too much, too fast.
