Keegan Connor Tracy, a celebrated actress-turned-director, has built a 25-year career across the landscape of film and television, excelling in both indie projects and blockbusters and is known for roles that span an impressive spectrum. Now happily ensconced behind the camera, Keegan approaches directing with that same passion. Her magical debut short The Girl/La Fille won several international awards including the Jury President’s prize at the Galactic Imaginarium Festival, and her most recent film The Worst Day Ever?, a semi-autobiographical story about the realities of medically assisted suicide, garnered her a Best Director award at its first festival showing in Toronto. Her directorial range spans genres, including several thriller and rom-com MOWs, and she has worked with cutting-edge technologies like pre-viz and ‘volume’ shooting. Keegan has several projects in development and is attached to direct the up-coming indie horror film The Beholder with Sandstone Artists in LA.
Having moved seamlessly from actor to director, Keegan relishes its leadership role and the camaraderie that develops with crew and is valued for her collaborative skills. She also possesses a deep understanding of character and backstory, earning her a reputation as an "actor’s director", one who can speak to the actor in their own unique language. Outside of film and TV, Keegan still spends a lot of time with stories; she was a panelist on Canada Reads and recently joined the CBC as an on-air book columnist. Her narrated stories on the popular Calm app have put many people to sleep - in a good way. Having already published a children’s book, Keegan is hard at work on her first novel. She also spends a great deal of time trying to figure out how she can someday own a horse.
